Human Race’s Off-Road Series – IceMan

As 7th February drew closer I found myself worrying at the prospect of completing Human Race’s IceMan trail Duathlon event.  11 weeks previously I’d tackled the 10km trail run at WildMan and enviously watched the Duathletes while wishing I’d pushed myself that bit harder and taken on the full challenge.  In most events Team Trek and Run choose to enter we’ll opt for the longest distance available – there’s nothing macho about that, we just feel if you’re going to take part in an event you might as well experience…

Human Race’s Off-Road Series – WildMan – 22nd November 2014

One of the main mistakes some runners make as the winter chill draws in, especially when considering a spring marathon, is to decrease training due to the cold weather. It’s easy to offer excuses such as ‘It’s too cold outside’ or ‘It’s nearly Christmas… I’ll start my training in the new year’. However, to build the best possible base for a spring marathon, keeping active over the winter months is essential and cross country events are one of the best ways I’ve found of keeping my training on schedule as…

The 2014 Grand Union Challenge – 50km Ultra-Marathon

The 2014 Grand Union Challenge took place on 28th June. Below is David Sherman’s review of the race. To most people who have never run before, a 5km or 10km is a challenge worthy of respect. Many people consider completing a Half Marathon a huge achievement and most will question your sanity when told you’ve signed up for a full marathon (“Why would you want to run 26.2 miles?!”), however if you really want to make someone’s jaw drop there are only two words you need to say… Ultra Marathon!…

The Helly Hansen Beauty & The Beast 2014

This event took part at High Wycombe park near London on 20th September 2014. There were options to run a half marathon (3 laps of the course), a full marathon (6 laps) and team relay, where teams of between 2 and 6 individuals could take a lap or more each. First, here’s a short video, made with a Garmin Virb Elite Camera, of the half marathon event, to give you an idea of the course. Hopefully that tells you how my day went! There are a couple more things I…

Hellrunner; Hell Down South 2014

The 2014 Hell Down South event took place on 4th January. Below is our review of the race. First of all, here’s a film of the event, it’ll give you an idea of what to expect from the route. Part 1; Dave Wise Trail Plus, the people behind the Hellrunner event, have been organising stuff like this longer than we at Trek and Run have been reviewing it all (which is quite some time) and it shows. Taking part in this Hell Down South event was a real joy; the…

The Spartan Sprint

The Spartan Sprint, South London - 30th August, 2014 Photos by Christina Koutoula and Tavisha Fernando Film shot with a Garmin Virb Elite Action Camera (see our review of the camera Here). First up, for an idea of what the course was like, have a look at this short film we made whilst taking part. There were 3,000 people signed up to take part in this event but by midday, about the time that our Trek and Run team had finished, an extra 1,200 had turned up hoping to race. Perhaps the…

The Paris EcoTrail 30km and 50km Events, France

The Paris EcoTrail 30 and 50km Events were held on Saturday 24th March, 2012. First of all, here’s a film of the event, it’ll give you an idea of what to expect from the route. The 50km Event, by Dave Wise The Paris Eco Trail is probably the best ultra running event that practically nobody in the UK knows about. I certainly hadn’t heard of it before Jean-Marc invited me to take part, and none of my running mates had either. How had this passed us by?!! Well, for a…

The Columbia Hellrider, West Wycombe Park, England

The Columbia Hellrider at West Wycombe Park took place on Saturday 4th June, 2011. The event was open to individuals, teams of three and teams of five. All individuals/teams had eight hours within which to complete as many laps of the two courses (one 5km running course, one 7km mountain biking course) as possible. They had to complete alternative run and bike laps in sequence. (i.e run, bike, run, bike, etc), and only one team member could be in action at any given time. Each team member was required to…
