Trek and Run were supported during this event by; Salba Chia  Gore Running Wear Push Nutrition On Running Robens Tents Helly Hansen Bloc Eyewear and Garmin Actions Cameras First of all, here’s a film made by Dave whilst taking part in the 110km event to give you an idea of the course and the atmosphere. Part 1, by Dave – the 110km event This was the race I was most looking forward to this season. I’ve done a few Lakeland Trails events before so knew that they’re always run on…

Go Ape Whinlatter Forest, Cumbria

This centre is about 10 minutes outside of the town of Keswick. We arrived and had a 15 minute safety instruction which mainly consisted of explaining how the 3 safety lines that we had attached to us should be attached to the course as we made our way round. The course is actually made up of 5 sets of obstacles, all high up in the treetops. I have no head for heights and struggled a bit at first, but then I gained confidence in my equipment. Understanding that even if…

Go Ape Grizedale, Cumbria

Go Ape have centres all over the UK, this one at Grizedale Forest is their flagship and only a 15 minute ferry/car ride from the Windermere Marina Village. We arrived and had a short safety instruction which mainly consisted of explaining how the 3 safety lines that we had attached to us should be attached to the course as we made our way round. The course is actually made up of 5 sets of obstacles, all high up in the treetops, some as high as 18 metres off the ground!…

The Staveley 17km Challenger Event, Cumbria, England

The Staveley 17km event was organised by Lakeland Trails and held on Saturday 26th May, 2012. First of all, here’s a film of the event, it’ll give you an idea of what to expect from the route. I think I have to name this event as my Number ONE so far this year. Without a doubt actually. Sure, you do have to pay for parking (£2) which is unusual in the races I’ve done before, and you get no goody bag or medal (you do get a decent T-Shirt though),…

The Brathay Windermere Marathon, Cumbria

The event was held on Sunday 20th May, 2012 First of all, here’ a film of the event, it’ll give you an idea of what to expect from the route. I was expecting to run this race in bad weather. It’s not that I’m a pessimist, it’s just that the Lake District has a reputation of being wet, really wet (all those lakes are there for a reason…). And indeed, chatting to other runners at the start line who’d done it before (there was a lot of them, this run…

The Karrimor Great Trail Challenge, Keswick, Cumbria

The run was held on Sunday 17th June, 2012 First of all, here’s a film of the event, it’ll give you an idea of what to expect from the route. This was the first ever Karrimor Great Trail Challenge, and I felt pretty chuffed to be part of it. I knew before I got there that it was going to be well organised. With the companies involved – Karrimor, Powerade and Aqua Pura – it wasn’t going to be anything else. And so it proved to be. Race packs were…
