Fix Events Tough 10k, Greenwich Park – 26th March 2017

Trek and Run were supported during this event by; Thistle Hotel Bloomsbury Park Salba Chia  Brooks Running Helly Hansen Tailwind Nutrition & Ultimate Direction Race Photography by Wildman Media Dave – I was looking for a couple of warm up races for the Marathon des Sables, just to tune up my fitness, and since this one was in hilly Greenwich Park and had the word ‘Tough’ in it’s title, I thought, yes, this sounds like it can be one of them! It was a stunning day, just right, sunny, not much…

The Race Organiser Hyde Park 10k – 27th March 2017

Trek and Run were supported during this event by; Thistle Hotel Bloomsbury Park Salba Chia  Brooks Running Helly Hansen Tailwind Nutrition & Ultimate Direction All race photography by BasilThorntonPhotography  The Race Organiser Hyde Park 10k is a relatively flat, scenic route that takes in 2 laps of central Hyde Park. Here’s what our team thought of the event. Dave Sherman – One of the things I love most about being a Londoner is having access to so many wonderful green spaces to run in.  While there are plenty to choose from,…

Purple Patch’s Maidenhead Half Marathon – 4th Sept 2016

By Laura Kimberley Photos by Dave Sherman Gathered at the start line waiting to go I was hit by a supreme moment of sheer panic. I felt sick and had a horrendous case of the nervous giggles. I’d known this event was coming up and although I’d trained for it more than I’d trained for any of the previous 4 half marathons I’d done, for some reason I really felt the pressure of this one. Over the past few months I’ve been attempting to find a real love of running…

Nuffield Health Eton Sprints Triathlon – 22nd May 2016

Trek and Run were supported during this event by; Salba Chia  Helly Hansen Oakley & Decathlon Photos by www.sportcam.net, Dave Sherman and Laura Kimberley  Without question, Dorney Lake is one of my favourite venues for triathlon events. The water is clear (well… as clear as open water can be) allowing you to follow the underwater rope holding the buoys in place (thereby making sighting incredibly easy), the cycle involves simple laps following a reasonably flat path around the outside of the lake, and the run section involves 1 or 2 laps of a flat out-and-back alongside the lake almost guaranteeing a fast finish. The venue itself also offers an indoor…

The Purple Patch Stockley Park 10K – 15th May 2016

By Laura Kimberley and Katrina Urban  The Purple Patch running website boasted ‘A hidden jewel, nestled amidst the M4, M40 & M25, yet a million miles away from the concrete jungle – a real metropolitan oasis.’ I was really excited about this run because nothing makes me happier than exploring new places and this location had really been talked up by the Purple Patch team. I was very nearly down a running buddy because my planned companion Nicola had to work, but thankfully my friend Kat offered to run in her place. I was looking forward to this as…

Milton Keynes Marathon and Half Marathon – 2nd May 2016

Salba Chia  Scimitar Sports & Helly Hansen Part 1 - By Dave Sherman  Celebrating its 50th birthday next year and referred to by many as ‘Britain’s newest town’ but by others as ‘the concrete jungle’, Milton Keynes (or MK, as the town is commonly referred to) was born out of a government effort to relieve London’s housing congestion, planned to be equidistant from London, Birmingham, Leicester, Oxford and Cambridge, and formed from an area which was predominantly farmland and undeveloped villages into the grid of dual carriageways and roundabouts we know today. However if you look beyond the concrete, you’re left with a huge network of paths for cyclists, runners and walkers known as…

Brighton Marathon – 17th April 2016

Trek and Run were supported during this event by; Salba Chia  & Scimitar Sports Part 1; by Dave Sherman Before we get started with our reviews, here’s a film I made about the event from a runner’s perspective… Following my first marathon back in 2012, once the pain had worn off I set myself a goal of running as many marathons as I could but, as there are so many marathons out there, I planned to avoid running the same marathon twice. This lasted for 4 years (and 17 marathons); however when I’d tackled Brighton in 2013 I’d had a dreadful experience due to serious…

The Purple Patch Heyford Park Airbase 10k

Trek and Run were supported during this event by; Salba Chia  & Helly Hansen Part 1: By Laura Kimberley On Sunday 20th March the Heyford Park races took place at an RAF airbase in Cherwell Valley. The event offered a 5k, 10k or half marathon option as well 600m and 1k junior races. My friend Nicola and I had opted for the 10k as part of our ongoing training plan we’re undertaking in line with a number of Purple Patch’s upcoming events. We arrived at the airbase about an hour before race…

Vitality Brighton Half Marathon – 28th Feb 2016

Trek and Run were supported during this event by; Salba Chia  & Helly Hansen Part 1: By Steve Kimberley It was that time of the year again. As the winter months were coming to an end, half-marathon season was starting up again and for a third time I would be running the Vitality Brighton half marathon. Since the first time that I ran it, Brighton has been my favourite half marathon course for a number of reasons. First of all, the course is just an ideal layout of gradients and…

Cancer Research UK London Winter Run – 31st Jan 2016

Trek and Run were supported during this event by; Salba Chia  & Helly Hansen First up, here’s a short video we shot during the event, to give you an idea of the course and atmosphere. This is the second year of the Winter Run series organised by Cancer Research. We had been previously given a start time of 10:18am and expected to be standing around for a long while considering that the first wave set of…
