Trek and Run were supported during this event by; Salba Chia  Helly Hansen Oakley & Secret Training Part 1: By Dave Sherman The Challenge Denmark Middle Distance Triathlon took place on 12th June 2016 involving a 1.2 mile swim in Furslang Lake in Herning, followed by a 56 mile cycle from Herning to Billund, and finally a 13.1 mile (Half Marathon) run around the Lalandia resort and downtown Billund. This event was to be my third Middle Distance triathlon event but my first Challenge event and my first visit to Denmark,…

Nuffield Health Eton Sprints Triathlon – 22nd May 2016

Trek and Run were supported during this event by; Salba Chia  Helly Hansen Oakley & Decathlon Photos by www.sportcam.net, Dave Sherman and Laura Kimberley  Without question, Dorney Lake is one of my favourite venues for triathlon events. The water is clear (well… as clear as open water can be) allowing you to follow the underwater rope holding the buoys in place (thereby making sighting incredibly easy), the cycle involves simple laps following a reasonably flat path around the outside of the lake, and the run section involves 1 or 2 laps of a flat out-and-back alongside the lake almost guaranteeing a fast finish. The venue itself also offers an indoor…

Challenge Fuerteventura Half Iron Triathlon – 23rd April 2016

By Lee O’Sullivan and David Sampayo  The build up to our Half Iron distance triathlon was soon upon us and all the winter training was hopefully going to pay off for a great race for the start of the season, and our very first half iron triathlon in sunnier climates. Booked 6 months previously, we planned out our trip. We’d booked Ryanair flights well in advance and achieved pretty reasonable flights at around £150 return per person including luggage which I thought was reasonable for a 4 hr flight. We also pre-booked our double room at the Hotel of the La Playitas resort which was…

Castle Series Hever Castle Triathlon – Sept 2015

Many years ago, various castles throughout Great Britain were the site of epic battles fought between Saxons, Normans, Vikings and various other parties who loved a good old ruck. These days we’ve taken our fights abroad, yet battles are still fought at a select few castles across the country (and even one in France). These modern day soldiers are triathletes, and the goal – the Holy Grail – is to complete the distance and claim that all-important finishers medal. This weekend the Castle Series visited Hever Castle in Kent –…

Castle Series Château de Chantilly Olympic Distance Triathlon – Aug 2015

Written by Lee Dale In 2013 I watched my friends complete the Hever Castle triathlon and this inspired me so I set myself a goal to enter a triathlon in 2014. The Hever Castle Sprint Plus was my first attempt and I was hooked. I really enjoyed the setting and the atmosphere at Hever and felt the Castle Triathlon Series events were well organised and welcoming. When I realised this year I wouldn’t be able to compete at Hever Castle, I decided that I’d try another of the Castle Triathlon…

Human Race’s Steelman Olympic Distance and Challenge Distance Triathlon

Trek and Run were supported during this event by; Salba Chia  Columbia Sportswear Push Nutrition & Helly Hansen Photos by Laura Kimberley and Sportcam.net Olympic Distance Triathlon by Dave Sherman Leading up to Wiggle’s Steelman event I’ll admit I was worried… This would be my first Olympic Distance triathlon and I wasn’t feeling incredibly confident considering my recent attempts at shorter distances! The distances had only slightly increased from my previous Sprint-Plus triathlon at Castle Cholmondeley, however I’d be covering a 1.5km swim, 42km cycle and a 10km run one…

Castle Cholmondeley Triathlon – June 2015

Trek and Run were supported during this event by; Salba Chia  Push Nutrition Photos by Laura Kimberley, Dave Sherman and www.peachysnaps.com  Part 1, by Dave Sherman In July 2014 I completed my first Triathlon – a Super-Sprint event at Castle Howard in York consisting of a 400m open-water swim, 22km cycle and 4km run. I’d entered it as a new challenge with very little Triathlon specific training – something different from the runs and cycles I’d taken on so far – and even though I’d found it incredibly tough –…

Human Race’s Eton Sprints Triathlon– 23rd May 2015

Trek and Run were supported during this event by; Salba Chia  Push Nutrition and Tom Tom Photos by Laura Kimberley, Hayley Lloyd and Sport Cam Part 1, by Dave Sherman For some strange reason I love setting myself crazy challenges which initially seem unachievable to me, so with that in mind I decided to designate 2015 as my ‘year of the Triathlon’ with the end goal to complete a Half Ironman triathlon (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile cycle and 13.1 run).  Last year at York’s Castle Howard, my first ever…
