Commando Series Obstacle Race – November 2016

Trek and Run were supported during this event by Salba Chia  & Helly Hansen Part 1: By Dave Sherman As much as I love obstacle races, most tend to centre around a fixed formula of ‘mud + climbs + carries (+ a pinch of humiliation for any weaklings) = an OCR’. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve taken part in some awesome events and have great memories from certain races, but after a while they start feeling a bit ‘samey’. However every now and then something different comes along which stands…

Brooks Hellrunner: Hell Down South – Longmore Camp, Hampshire – 16th January 2016

Trek and Run were supported during this event by; Salba Chia  & Helly Hansen First up, here’s a short video we shot during the event, to give you an idea of the course and atmosphere. Part 1: Steve Kimberley: In the days leading up to the Brooks Hellrunner 2016 race, I was filled with a quiet confidence that this race would be just another one for the medal cabinet. With claims of being “tougher than Tough Mudder”, yet having absolutely no obstacles that aren’t part of the trail itself, I assumed that these were just…

Toughman Adventure Race, and the 7 in 7 Isle of Man Challenge

Toughmann seemed liked an event worth experiencing. A 10km distance with 1,000 ft of ascent and 25 obstacles to overcome sounded intriguing, and there was a light-hearted, non-macho feel to the race website which made me think the aim of the game was to provide a testing challenge rather than a chance of permanent injury. Add to this the location – the Isle of Man, a place I’ve visited before and know to be beautiful, friendly and well worth seeing more of – and it’s no surprise that I was…

The event took place at the picturesque and historical Hever castle, the former residence of English Queen Anne Boleyn, on a wet and chilly Saturday morning in November and the venue was…

The Spartan Beast – Sept 2015

Trek and Run were supported during this event by; Salba Chia  Columbia Sportswear & Helly Hansen Words by Steve Kimberley Photos by Dave Sherman and Epic Action Imagery So this was it. The culmination of the last few weeks of blood and sweat was to take place on that sunny September morning, as early mists faded into an autumn glow and the OCR runners of the Spartan tribe donned their mud-tested trail shoes and headbands for one last AROO of 2015. Now with the two pieces of the 2015 Spartan…

Reebok Spartan Race South Super – Sept 2015

Trek and Run were supported during this event by; Salba Chia  Columbia Sportswear & Helly Hansen Words by Vijay Algoo Photos by Bobbie Noakes and Epic Action Imagery The Spartan South Super took place on Sunday 19th September at Ashburnham Place, a proper English country house within East Sussex in a town called Battle. Yep, a “Spartan” race in a town called “Battle”, you couldn’t make it up! As we approached the venue we could see participants carrying logs and as we turned into the main entrance of Ashburnham Place…

The Commando Series Obstacle Course Race sneak-peek

By Vijay Algoo I was lucky enough to be invited to try out the course for the first ever Commando Series OCR at Hever Castle, a new obstacle race from the organisers of the Castle Triathlon Series. Here’s what I discovered about the race… Why Choose This OCR?  If you want to take part in an Obstacle race these days there are a few to choose from as OCR has been coined as the fastest growing sport and every year more events are popping up. In a market like this…

London River Rat Race – July 2015

Trek and Run were supported during this event by; Salba Chia  Columbia Sportswear & Helly Hansen Part 1 by Dave Sherman – As event day drew closer I’ll admit I was getting excited as despite completing some great events in 2014, this was one of the events which had really stood out above the others. Although Rat Race mainly offer obstacle races they also host a few ‘slightly different’ events – a bit of a break from the norm. These include an Ultra-Marathon called ‘The Wall’ which travels 69 miles…
