The Hamilton Marathon Road2Hope – 4th November 2018

The Hamilton Road2Hope has the potential to be the fastest marathon in Canada; Dave, Virgil, Emrys and Adam from our team took on the Full Marathon, and Jenn took on the Half. Jenn – The reviews were right, the course was fast and there was a lot of downhill.  In fact, the half marathon was several kilometres of downhill.  Slightly boring and empty highway mind you, but still downhill. Getting to the race by car was very easy.  Save for a line-up to get into the parking lot which had…

The Mississauga Pandora Square One Half Marathon – 6th May, 2018

The Trek and Run Team were supported during this event by; Kusaga Athletic Salba Chia Here’s a short film that Dave made to give you an idea of the event. Dave – I didn’t think I’d be in shape to run the full Mississauga Marathon. Although I love it and have run it for the past few years I’d only just come back from the 7 day Marathon des Sables a few weeks earlier and felt that perhaps having just run 250k through the Sahara Desert I’d better stick to…

New Balance Chilly Half Marathon & Frosty 5K – March 4, 2018

The Trek and Run Team were supported during this event by; Kusaga Athletic Salba Chia Adam – The New Balance Chilly Half Marathon and CIBC Wealth Frosty 5k took place in Burlington, Ontario in March. Predominantly run along Burlington’s Brant Street and Lakeshore Road, the course was relatively flat and you could expect a fast race. This was my first ever half marathon last year, so this year my goal was to obtain a personal best. Born and raised in Burlington, this race was especially fun to me. Last year…

Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront 5k, Half Marathon and Marathon – Oct 22nd 2017

The Trek and Run Team were supported during this event by; Kusaga Athletic Salba Chia The Scotiabank Toronto Marathon is Toronto’s premier running weekend. Before we talk more about the event, here’s a film that’ll give you an idea of what Dave experienced as he ran the 5k and the marathon. 4 of the Trek and Run team took part, here’s what they thought of the events. Pamela – The Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Half Marathon has to be the best half marathon course I’ve encountered. Well, maybe I am biased, being a…

The Grand Caledonia Half Marathon – Oct 7th 2017

The Trek and Run Team were supported during this event by; Kusaga Athletic Salba Chia Dave ran as usual, Virgil ran in a Mudfish costume! Dave – The Grand Caledonia Half Marathon course winds through some built up areas but also lots of rolling country roads and a fair few kms of lovely trail along the Grand River. It’s a hilly, pretty course taking in lovely Ontario countryside at the peak of Harvest time. Here’s a map of the course and a view from it, near the start line. The event…

The Mississauga Marathon – May 2017

Trek and Run were supported during this event by; Salba Chia Brooks Running Tailwind Nutrition & Helly Hansen The course didn’t change too much since when we did it in 2016 so here’s the film we shot then, to give you an idea of what’s in store for you. Dave (took part in the Full Marathon) – Hopefully the film above and my team-mates reports below will give you a firm idea of what you can expect if you enter this event. I’ll just add a few thoughts to pad…

Around The Bay – 27th March 2017

Trek and Run were supported during this event by; Salba Chia Brooks Running & Helly Hansen Jeff - Around The Bay is a special event which combines an interesting distance at an interesting time of year. But some may say that signing up for a 30k in the middle of March is just plain smart as far as marathon training goes and it may be the reason that this race has attracted hoards of runners to the streets of Hamilton every year since 1894. While many of us ponder all winter about…

The Burlington Chilly Half Marathon – 5th March 2017

Trek and Run were supported during this event by; Salba Chia  Brooks Running & Helly Hansen The Burlington Chilly Half Marathon is one of those very flat lakeside courses that southern Ontario does so well; if the wind isn’t blowing too bad this is PB territory (it was for two – and so nearly three! - of our team) for sure, and it’s a pretty route to boot. Four of our team took on the challenge, here’s what they thought. Pamela - This turned out to be a significant race for me, which I hadn’t…

The Nutrience Oakville Half Marathon – 25th Sept 2016

Trek and Run were supported during this event by; Salba Chia  Brooks Running & Helly Hansen All photographs, unless otherwise stated, by David Wise First, to give you a firm idea of the event, here’s a short video Dave shot as he took part. Three of our team took on this event (2 of them got personal best times, it’s a very fast course!); here’s what we thought of the day. Tim – I have to admit I found the shuttle bus schedule from Bronte Station to the event village to…
