The campground was an impressive site, like one of those epic 1950’s film’s famous for their armies of extras. My tentmates Jason, Gareth, Jeanne and Simon were…

Color Me Rad Toronto – May 2017

Pamela – Despite weather warnings of rain, the Color Me Rad event turned out to be a fun, sunny affair; which was perfectly fitting for its colourful nature. It was mother’s day weekend and I was happy to be attending this with two of my children. I loved the activity, participation and fitness focus of this event, it really encourages younger people to start running. Many events have a performance focus, and that has a place too, but I’m glad that we were all encouraged to just get out there and have…

Commando Series Obstacle Race – November 2016

Trek and Run were supported during this event by Salba Chia  & Helly Hansen Part 1: By Dave Sherman As much as I love obstacle races, most tend to centre around a fixed formula of ‘mud + climbs + carries (+ a pinch of humiliation for any weaklings) = an OCR’. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve taken part in some awesome events and have great memories from certain races, but after a while they start feeling a bit ‘samey’. However every now and then something different comes along which stands…

The Spartan Super, Toronto – 3rd July 2016

Trek and Run were supported during this event by; Salba Chia  Brooks Running & Helly Hansen First, to give you a firm idea of the event, here’s a short video we shot as we took part. The Trek and Run team was supposed to take part in the Spartan Sprint on Saturday 2nd July and the Spartan Super the following day, but due to some transportation issues (our 4th team member, and our driver on the Saturday, got told that if he dared go out to one more race he’d…

Brooks Hellrunner: Hell Down South Longmore Camp, Hampshire – 16th January 2016

Trek and Run were supported during this event by; Salba Chia  & Helly Hansen First up, here’s a short video we shot during the event, to give you an idea of the course and atmosphere. Part 1: Steve Kimberley: In the days leading up to the Brooks Hellrunner 2016 race, I was filled with a quiet confidence that this race would be just another one for the medal cabinet. With claims of being “tougher than Tough Mudder”, yet having absolutely no obstacles that aren’t part of the trail itself, I assumed that these were just…

Toughman Adventure Race, and the 7 in 7 Isle of Man Challenge

Toughmann seemed liked an event worth experiencing. A 10km distance with 1,000 ft of ascent and 25 obstacles to overcome sounded intriguing, and there was a light-hearted, non-macho feel to the race website which made me think the aim of the game was to provide a testing challenge rather than a chance of permanent injury. Add to this the location – the Isle of Man, a place I’ve visited before and know to be beautiful, friendly and well worth seeing more of – and it’s no surprise that I was…

Commando Series Obstacle Race – Hever Castle, Kent – 14th Nov

Trek and Run were supported during this event by; Salba Chia  Saucony Columbia Sportswear & Helly Hansen Photos by Dave Sherman and Peachy Snaps Words by Steve Kimberley After one of our writers attended an exciting PR event earlier in 2015, Team Trek and Run had been eagerly awaiting the very first opportunity to experience a Commando race. The event took place at the picturesque and historical Hever castle, the former residence of English Queen Anne Boleyn, on a wet and chilly Saturday morning in November and the venue was…

Run or Dye 5km Colour Run at Hever Castle, Kent – Sept 2015

Trek and Run were supported during this event by; Salba Chia  Columbia Sportswear & Helly Hansen Words by Laura Kimberley Photos by Dave Sherman and Peachy Snaps The Run or Dye 5k took place on Saturday 3rd October in the stunning grounds of Hever Castle. This event was inspired by the Hindu festival of Holi where participants throw coloured dye at each other to celebrate diversity and individuality. 5000 runners took part in the event last year and it proved to be just as popular this time around with some…

The Spartan Beast – Sept 2015

Trek and Run were supported during this event by; Salba Chia  Columbia Sportswear & Helly Hansen Words by Steve Kimberley Photos by Dave Sherman and Epic Action Imagery So this was it. The culmination of the last few weeks of blood and sweat was to take place on that sunny September morning, as early mists faded into an autumn glow and the OCR runners of the Spartan tribe donned their mud-tested trail shoes and headbands for one last AROO of 2015. Now with the two pieces of the 2015 Spartan…

Reebok Spartan Race South Super – Sept 2015

Trek and Run were supported during this event by; Salba Chia  Columbia Sportswear & Helly Hansen Words by Vijay Algoo Photos by Bobbie Noakes and Epic Action Imagery The Spartan South Super took place on Sunday 19th September at Ashburnham Place, a proper English country house within East Sussex in a town called Battle. Yep, a “Spartan” race in a town called “Battle”, you couldn’t make it up! As we approached the venue we could see participants carrying logs and as we turned into the main entrance of Ashburnham Place…
